SetupCapsule is designed as a local-first Windows utility. The core app creates and reads capsule files on your computer. SetupCapsule does not require an account for its core backup and restore workflow.
The app may read the list of installed desktop applications, Windows Package Manager export data, and explicitly supported application-settings files in order to build a capsule. The capsule may contain this setup information and supported settings chosen by the app.
Capsules are created locally. You choose where to keep a safe copy, such as a USB drive, another drive, or a cloud-synced folder. If you choose a cloud-synced folder, synchronization is performed by your cloud provider, not by SetupCapsule servers.
Version 1.0.0 does not require an account and does not upload capsule contents to SetupCapsule servers.
